OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW

Happy New Year!!!  Wow, it's hard to believe it's already 2012. 

The start of a new year is always exciting isn't it?  It seems everyone is ready for a fresh start.  We are ready to get back to a somewhat normal life after the holidays.  We are waiting with anticipation the events that the new year will bring (well, that is besides another birthday, if you happen to be middle aged like me, LOL).  We look forward to a new Spring and a new Summer and we often look forward to making some much needed changes in the new year to come.  The past is behind us and the future straight ahead.  There once again seems to be hope for a new beginning. A fresh start.  You know, out with the old and in with the new...

As I thought about that this morning, I thought about Jesus.  He's kind of like a new year.  He is a new beginning.  A fresh start.  He can take an old life and make it new again.

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:

all things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

                                          2 Corin. 5:17

No matter what happened in the past, you CAN have a new, fresh and bright future.  Maybe life hasn't turned out the way you planned.  Maybe you have made some mistakes or done some things wrong.  We ALL have and it's okay.

For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

                                           Romans 3:23

However, if you are ready for a fresh start, a new beginning; if you are tired of making the same decisions and mistakes over and over again, why not let Jesus help.  He's offering to YOU a new beginning.  You CAN have a "new" life and 2012 could be the best year you have ever had.

It all starts simply with being born again, again into a new life, as the scriptures teach.  Jesus told Nicodemus in John chapter 3 what being born again entails; saying, you MUST be born again of the water and the Spirit to enter into the kingdom of heaven.  To find out more about the "water" and the "Spirit" and this new life experience, click on over to my online bible study page HERE.

There is no more wonderful time of year than the Christmas season.  It's a magical time...a MERRY time...a blessed time...but also a very BUSY time...so often we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season that we forget the reason we even have this special season to celebrate...

Though thoughts of that mystical little fella, Santa and jolly little elves bring cheer...we must not forget WHO made Christmas possible...

No it's not SANTA...it's this precious little fella...

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:

and the government shall be upon his shoulder:

and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor,

The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

(Isaiah 9:6)

And she shall bring forth a son,

and thou shalt call his name JESUS:

Game Night/Trivia Night

Looking for something fun to do on your night off that doesn't cost any money?  Call up the ladies and get together for game night or trivia night.  This event can be hosted at your house if your group is small or host it in the church fellowship hall for a larger group.

Have each lady bring her favorite board game or other game to the meeting.  If there is a large group and you are hosting it at the fellowship hall, set up several tables and place a different game on each (like stations). 

Then PLAY.  The ladies can divide up into groups and play whichever game they prefer.  Make a night of it.  Playing different games and fellowshipping with different ladies. 

You might suggest that each lady invite a friend to come along.  The more the merrier.  Besides this is a great opportunity to win a lost soul!!!

Ask each lady to bring a snack and beverage to share.
